    BENNETT
My gggrandfather Thomas Bennett (1788-1870) was born in NH, according to census records. He m. Patty Stevens (1778-1839) in Washington NH, 1809, and in a couple of years they moved to western NY, living in Barre, Orleans Co. Patty (her name was Martha, but she was married and buried as Patty) was the d. of Jesse (1760-1826) and Martha (Seaton) (1755?--1840). Jesse's birth is listed in the Andover VRs, but there is no further mention of him. There is a long line of Stevens' in Andover, going back to John Steevens (1605-1662) who m. Elizabeth Parker ? (1613-1694). Recent postings have been exploring some NH Bennett lines. I can't help but believe that Thomas was from southeast NH, but he has left absoutely no tracks at all! He is the well known brick wall, but there must be somebody who has a connection. He and Patty are buried in Gregory Cemetery, Albion, Orleans Co. NY, now abandoned. Thomas' second wife, Ismena Dinsmore, is also buried there. Thomas and Martha (Patty) had four sons: Orlando (1811- 1865) m. Lucinda ? before 1850. a d. Martha, was 11 in 1850. * Andrew Seaton (1816-1890) m. Mahala Bachellor (1816-1866), and had 7 ch. There was a John Bennett who was mate on one of Capt. John Smith's vessels which explored the NE coast in 1614, and there seem to be Bennett mariners through NE. Most of the Bennett info I come across has to do with the South and mid-West. To repeat, I will certainly appreciate any leads. Grant Bennett

    SLEATH
The surname is SLEATH, and the individual is William (b ca 1858, NH). His older sister was born 5 Feb 1854 in ENGLAND, and his younger brother was born about 1863 in Renfrew County, Ontario, CANADA. Thus, my problem of a family on the move. I have found them in the 1861 Ontario Census, and NOT in the NH 1860 Census. It appears they moved to Ontario immediately after William's birth.
